VCE school leaders briefings
The VCAA strongly encourages members of your school's VCE leadership team to attend an important professional development opportunity that will be offered at a variety of venues during February and March 2017. The briefings are intended to give VCE school leaders, particularly new VCE coordinators, an overview of current VCE matters. Areas covered in these briefings will include:
- school assessment, including 'S' and 'N' decisions and graded assessment
- a curriculum update
- school-based assessment audit
- VCE (Baccalaureate)/Industry Pathways
- flexible programing featuring the Northern Hemisphere Timetable
- statistical moderation and changes to the way VET is processed
- study scores.
Note that these briefings do not replace the training provided for VASS or the VCE Exam Results Service. The sessions will be held in Term 1, 2017. Register online via
Trumba. Download a copy of the
training schedule (docx - 57.71kb) to check dates and venues.
Participants can register for only one session; if a session is full, it will not be possible to register. Confirmation of registration will be sent to the participant's email address. Sessions are from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.
Analysing your school's VCE results
The VCAA invites you to attend, from late February to the end of March 2017, a valuable professional development session on analysing your school's VCE results. These sessions are for school staff responsible for the delivery of the VCE. They will increase your knowledge and skills in using the VCE assessment results to:
- identify strengths and weaknesses in your school's VCE performance against particular curricula
- inform professional learning discussions with fellow teachers around improving student outcomes.
The sessions cover the various levels of valuable information made available to your school via the VCE Data Service and VCE External Assessment Results Service. This ranges from information for the classroom teacher to that used by the school leadership team.
These are hands-on sessions where you will be analysing your own school's VCE results. They are informative regardless of whether you are new or experienced at analysing VCE results. If possible, arrange for a colleague to register and attend the session with you. Participants find it beneficial to discuss findings from their analyses with a colleague during the session.
Please note that places for each session are limited due to the number of PCs available in the training venue. Download the
session details (docx - 59.66kb) before you
register online. (If you cannot see the sessions in Trumba when trying to register, click the option in the left-hand column to view as a table.)
