School-assessed Tasks professional learning sessions 2016

Professional learning sessions for School-assessed Tasks will be held at the VCAA Assessment Centre in Coburg in February and March for all studies except Algorithmics (HESS), which will be held at 2 Treasury Place, East Melbourne. These full-day sessions are designed to provide teachers with a clear understanding of how to apply the assessment criteria and descriptors for the School-assessed Task.

There will be a practical component to the day where assessment criteria will be applied using sample student work.

Teachers of Art, Studio Arts, Media and Visual Communication Design are encouraged to bring a student folio they think would be suitable for marking, although there is no guarantee that their folio will be used in any assessment exercise. Ensure that folios are labelled and students cannot be identified. All teachers will be required to bring a copy of their relevant study design/s.

For those who are unable to attend the scheduled sessions, Polycom sessions will run for all studies except Algorithmics (HESS). Please indicate on the registration form that you are unable to attend and an invitation containing details will be sent to your email.

Note: This professional development has finished.

Analysing your school's VCE results 2016

The VCAA invites you to attend a valuable professional development session on analysing your school’s VCE results. These sessions are for school staff responsible for the delivery of the VCE and will be held from late February to the end of March in 2016. They will increase your knowledge and skills in using the VCE assessment results to:

  • identify strengths and weaknesses in your school’s VCE performance against particular curricula
  • inform professional learning discussions with fellow teachers around improving student outcomes.

The sessions cover the various levels of valuable information made available to your school via the VCE Data Service and VCE External Assessment Results Service. This ranges from information for the classroom teacher to that used by the school leadership team.

These are hands-on sessions where you will be analysing your own school’s VCE results. They are informative regardless of whether you are new or experienced at analysing VCE results. If possible, arrange for a colleague to register and attend the session with you. Participants find it beneficial to discuss findings from their analyses with a colleague during the session.
