2017 Special Examination Arrangements applications

Main Points

Schools are reminded that the closing date for the submission of 2017 Special Examination Arrangements applications for long-term or chronic conditions is Friday 3 March 2017, as published in the 2017 Important Administrative Dates.

It is critical that instructions are read carefully for each Special Provision category to ensure all sections of the application are completed as stipulated and any additional evidence (e.g. medical reports, IQ assessments) is provided as required.

If essay material is required, Essay Two must be the student's recently completed (i.e. 2017) handwritten Unit 3 English or Literature School-assessed Coursework (SAC) or last year's internal examination (from November 2016 school examinations). The Essay Two cover sheet must also be completed.

Decisions on the outcome of Special Examination Arrangements applications will be released to schools in the week commencing Monday 8 May for applications received by Friday 3 March 2017.

Action Required

Principals/Directors should:

  • ensure relevant school staff are aware of the closing date for the submission of Special Examination Arrangements applications
  • remind relevant school staff to carefully read the instructions, including evidence requirements, for each application.

Monday 8 May 2017 − Decisions on outcome of applications will be released to schools from this date for applications submitted by Friday 3 March
