Notice to Schools 81/2017 − 2 August 2017

Training for the conduct of the 2017 VCE written examinations

Principals/Directors and Examination Centre Coordinators

Main Points

It is a VCAA requirement that all newly appointed chief supervisors attend training prior to starting their role.

In October 2017, the VCAA will conduct training sessions for new chief supervisors appointed after this year's General Achievement Test (GAT). The training sessions will be held at the VCAA Assessment Centre (189 Urquhart St, Coburg).

New chief supervisors must attend one of the available training sessions. The sessions will begin at 10.00am and conclude at approximately 3.00pm.

School personnel who are responsible for the conduct and administration of VCE written examinations, and are new to this role, should also attend a training session (even if their school has an ongoing, experienced chief supervisor).

Experienced school personnel responsible for the conduct and administration of VCE written examinations are encouraged to accompany their newly appointed chief supervisor to a training session.

Please register for the training session through Trumba .

If registering more than one person for training, you will need to use a separate email address for each person.

Action Required

Principals/Directors should:

  • ensure that any new chief supervisor appointed after the GAT is registered to attend one of the available training sessions
  • ensure that school personnel who are responsible for the conduct and administration of VCE written examinations and are new to this role also attend a training session.

Critical Dates

Wednesday 13 September 2017 – closing date for registrations

Monday 16 October and Tuesday 17 October – training sessions are held

Additional Information

New chief supervisors will be paid to attend a training session.

The payment will be included in the payment to schools for supervision of the VCE written examinations.  New chief supervisors travelling from regional areas will be paid an additional amount.
