Introducing the curriculum

There is much that is similar between Victorian Curriculum Design and Technologies and AusVELS Design Creativity and Technology although there are differences of emphasis. The Victorian Curriculum Design and Technologies three-strand structure appears to be quite different from the three dimensions in AusVELS Design Creativity and Technology, although both curriculums focus on actively engaging students in creating quality designed solutions for identified needs and opportunities across a range of technologies contexts. Like AusVELS Design Creativity and Technology, the Victorian Curriculum Design and Technologies provide students with knowledge, understanding and skills through which they can safely and ethically create designed solutions. In doing so, the students consider economic, environmental and social sustainability.

The Victorian Curriculum Design and Technologies has its first standard at Level 2. This is earlier than in AusVELS Design Creativity and Technology.
