Mr John Firth is the Chief Executive Officer of the VCAA.
Dr David Howes is responsible for the operations of the Curriculum Division. This includes responsibility for the implementation, review and development of the VEYLDF, VELS, VCE, VET and VCAL curriculum, and the transition to and implementation of the Australian Curriculum; provision of advice related to the assessment functions and responsibilities to the Assessment Division; and executive support for the VCAA Board working committees (Early Years – 10 Curriculum and Assessment Committee and the Post-Compulsory Curriculum and Assessment Committee). These committees provide advice and recommendations to the Board on the development and implementation of the VEYLDF and VELS, and the VCE, VCAL and VET respectively.
Lea Saddington leads operational units that support the Authority's business. Areas in the Division include Corporate Governance, Contracts and Procurement, Finance, Human Resources, Legal Services, Strategic Planning, Information Technology, Information Services, Public Affairs, Publications, Communications, the Season of Excellence and Accommodation.
Dr David Philips is responsible for the operations of the Assessment and Reporting Branch of the VCAA and the development, implementation and monitoring of the VCAA’s assessment policies and procedures. Dr Philips oversees the Assessment and Reporting Branch in the development, production, conduct and marking of all VCE examinations and the Years 3, 5 and 7 AIM tests.
The Branch manages the quality assurance and moderation programs for school-based assessments in the VCE. Dr Philips manages the collection and processing of students’ enrolment and assessment data for the VCE, VCAL and AIM, the maintenance of student records and, under delegation from the Victorian Qualifications Authority, the issuing of students’ VCE and VCAL certificates.
