Memorandum to Schools 103/2007

VASS New Users Professional Development November-December 2007

The VCAA will be conducting VASS New Users Professional Development training on the following dates in 2007 in addition to the normal Professional Development offered to schools in January/February 2008:

  1. Eastern Metropolitan Region SERCT Centre, Parkmore PS, Jolimont Road , Forest Hill:
    Tuesday 27 November, Wednesday 28 November and Wednesday 5 December 2007.
  2. Northern Metropolitan Region Training Centre, Newlands PS, Elizabeth Street, Newlands
    Thursday 29 November and Friday 30 November 2007.
  3. Western Metropolitan Region Training Centre, Clarendon Street , Avondale Heights: Thursday 13 December.

Please note:

  • This training is designed specifically for VASS Administrators (VA) who have had no previous VASS training i.e. those who have taken over the role of VA during 2007 and those who have already been appointed for 2008.
  • Further sessions will also be offered in January and February 2008 in both metropolitan and regional venues. Expression of Interest forms will be sent to schools in early December 2007.
  • This training is NOT available to VCE Single Study Language Providers. Special training for VCE Single Study Language Providers will be offered later in 2008. An expression of Interest form will be forwarded to those schools in February 2008.
  1. All sessions will be computer based ‘hands on’ training and run from 9 am to 4 pm with 45 minutes for lunch. Registration will commence at 8.30am. A light lunch will be provided.
  2. Allocation to a session is on a first come first served basis. First preferences will be allocated wherever possible, subject to availability.
  3. As places are very limited, schools are advised to return the attached Expression of Interest Form to Ms Margaret Andersson, Administrative Support Unit , by FAX ONLYas soon as possible but no later than FRIDAY 9th NOVEMBER 2007.
  4. All training sessions are subject to demand.
  5. There will be no provision for reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses or for the funding of staff replacement.
