Year 3 and Year 5 AIM Teacher Assessed Mathematics Task Marking Guide
Due to a production error, a line of text has been omitted from the marking guide for the Teacher Assessed Mathematics Task on page 14 of the 2007 Schools Guide AIM Implementation Year 3, Year 5 and Year 7.
The marking guide for Question 10 should read:
Question 10
One mark for the fraction 10/12 or 5/6 (or equivalent)
or
One mark for a fraction equal to 1 minus (student answer to Question 9).
MAX : 1 mark
The omitted line of text is: “One mark for a fraction equal to 1 minus (student answer to Question 9).” This allows for a consequential mark to be awarded to a student who has incorrectly answered Question 9, but correctly answered Question 10 using their answer to Question 9. An example of how to apply consequential marking for Question 10 is given in the marked example of a student's work on page 17 of the Guide.
Please bring this information to the attention of teachers responsible for marking the AIM Year 3 and Year 5 Teacher Assessed Mathematics Task as soon as possible and ask them to review any marking that has been completed to ensure that all student scores on the Teacher Assessed Task Return are an accurate assessment for each student.
The VCAA apologises for any inconvenience caused by this error.
