VCE VET Scored Assessment: Professional Development for Assessors – February/March 2008

The VCAA will be conducting a series of professional development workshops for assessors of scored VCE VET programs in 2008.
The workshops will include:

• an overview of scored assessment for new or inexperienced assessors
• an overview of findings from the 2007 coursework audit
• presentations on assessment planning and related workshop activities
• information relating to the task design process and the opportunity to share tasks and ideas with other assessors whilst preparing tasks for 2008
• guidance on using the VCE VET scoring criteria.

All assessors are asked to bring:

• the units of competence in the Unit 3–4 sequence that you deliver
• previously developed and draft coursework tasks
• your assessment plan (if available)
• program outline (structure, timing and assessment schedule) if available
• other resources or information you are prepared to share.

The workshop activities are designed for all assessors of VCE VET programs. Participants will be assigned into groups based on program areas. New assessors in 2008 should familiarise themselves with the structure and details of the scored assessment process by reading the relevant materials: the relevant Assessment Guide, sample Assessment Plans, VET Coursework Assessment Records (VCARs), scoring criteria sheets. Copies of all VCAA documentation will be available for participants at the workshops.

Time: New and inexperienced assessors: - 9.00am registration to commence at 9.15am
All other participants: - 10.00am registration to commence at 10.30am
A light lunch will be provided
Program will conclude at 3.15pm.

A registration form is provided on the next page of this memorandum. For planning purposes, we ask that registrations be emailed no later than Friday 22 February 2008.

Confirmation details will be provided via email only.

Reimbursement for travel over 100 km return journey will be available to participants from schools and RTOs. Public service guidelines apply – all vehicles must be comprehensively insured. Travel claim forms will be available on the day.
