Invitation To VCE Achiever Award Ceremony

Teachers are invited to bring student leaders to the 2008 VCE Achiever Award ceremony to hear some of Victoria’s most inspiring students.

The ceremony, on Friday 5 December, will celebrate the achievements of eight VCE students who have dedicated their VCE years to improving their school and community.

It is an excellent opportunity for current and future student leaders to hear from peers who are committed to complementing their academic pursuits with generous community involvement.

The ceremony will be attended by Steven Herbert MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Education, who will also announce the overall VCE Achiever for 2008.

Student leaders will be motivated by the 2007 overall VCE Achiever and the eight monthly finalists for 2008 who have demonstrated their leadership skills at school and in their community during their VCE years.

This year’s inspirational VCE Achievers include a co-founder of a charity, a climate change activist and an advocate for the deaf community.

There will be a special message from 2007’s overall VCE Achiever Tessa Forshaw, who has continued her commitment to youth leadership this year. Tessa’s achievements during VCE include being the Sponsorship Director for the Make Poverty History concert. She has helped others in the community through her work with Reach, EcoCare and the Oaktree Foundation. She was also a Victorian Executive member of the United Nations Youth Association.
