Memorandum to Schools 113/2008

On Demand Testing - Importing Students from CASES
The new VMware installation for the VCAA On Demand Testing application was rolled out to all government schools as part of the CASES rollout.
On Demand School users and technicians please note: the Synchronise from CASES button is no long functioning and should not be used. If you click on this button then all the students will be deleted from the On Demand database and will require VCAA remote access to restore student details.
This is because the On Demand Testing application is now a VMware and is not linked to the CASES server.
A patch will be released early next year to either fix or deactivate the Synchronise from CASES button.
All schools using the VMware version of On Demand must either enter student details manually by data entry or Import the student details into On Demand via .csv file and the Import Students button.
All Government Technicians have access to the CASES upgrade DVD containing the On Demand VMware, installation and restore data instructions and a VBS file which extracts the data in the correct format (.csv) from the CASES database.
This file is then saved in an appropriate place on the PC hard drive or USB. Technicians and On Demand Administrators can then log into the On Demand School Server Administration System link and follow the menu options Student Tracking → School → Search.
Highlight the school (your school name) and select the VIEW option. Click on Import Students and Browse to the saved .csv file click on OPEN then IMPORT.
If entering an individual student by data entry, Student Tracking →Student→. New.
Enter the students details into the appropriate fields and click on Apply
