EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – VELS Graduate Teacher Forum
The VCAA will hold a one day forum focusing on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) to support graduate teachers about to embark on their first year of teaching. The forum will be held in Melbourne on 27 January 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This forum is designed to provide advice for graduate teachers on using the VELS in planning teaching, learning and assessment activities. The program will:
- include an overview of the VELS and resources to support the development of effective curriculum and assessment
- provide opportunities for participants to meet with VCAA curriculum staff to ask questions and discuss practical teaching strategies
- facilitate the development of support networks with other graduate teachers.
Principals are encouraged to bring this forum to the attention of any graduate teachers joining their staff in 2009. There is no cost to participants attending the forum.
