VCE Achiever Awards 2008
The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) invites schools to nominate students for the VCE Achiever Award in 2008.
This year we need the application in the last week of the month preceding the one for which you are applying. For March, we look forward to entries in the next couple of weeks (February).
This Award recognises the efforts of VCE students in promoting community involvement in their local school and wider community. The type of student who should be nominated is the one who actively participates in activities such as the arts, sport, environmental protection, aged care, hospitality, local council initiatives, fundraising and/or public speaking and who is recognised as a leader in their school and community.
The VCAA accepts nominations from government, Catholic and independent schools and mature age students are also encouraged to apply.
One student is selected each month between March and October and at the end of the year one of them is selected as an overall achiever. At a ceremony held in early December, all the students are presented with certificates and trophies and the overall achiever also receives a notebook computer donated by Lenovo (Australia and New Zealand) Ltd.
Each monthly achiever is profiled in the Herald Sun (Learn section) and in the VCAA Bulletin. Each finalist also receives a three-month Herald Sun subscription.
If you have a student at your school who would be a worthy nominee, please do not hesitate to go to our website and download the application form (DOC - 206KB) which needs to be completed electronically this year.
We look forward to your nomination and if you need more information please do not hesitate to contact Information Services at the VCAA on 9651 4544 / 1800 134 197 or information.services.vcaa@edumail.vic.gov.au
The attached flier has also been mailed to schools with a letter addressed to the VCE Coordinator. We hope you will make it available to your students so that they can nominate themselves.
