Top Class: Sound – 14 March at Iwaki Auditorium ABC Centre
Teachers of performing and visual arts studies are advised of a pilot program running as part of the VCE Season of Excellence 2008 – Top Class: Sound on 14 March.
Top Class: Sound features original music works created for assessment tasks in various VCE studies. The program for 2008 features a film soundtrack and performances of works for double bass trio, klezmer ensemble, string quartet, jazz quartet, chamber orchestra and other more diverse instrumental ensembles. The range of music styles is just as wide!
Works in the program were created for VCE Music Styles, VCE Music Solo Performance and VCE Media.
Join the composers and performers at 2pm on Friday 14 March at the Iwaki Auditorium, ABC Centre, Southbank to hear this outstanding collection of work. Each work will be briefly introduced by its composer.

Top Class: Music: Solo and Group Performance – 15 March at Iwaki Auditorium, ABC Centre
Top Class: Music Performance follows Top Class: Sound the next day – 15 March – also at the Iwaki Auditorium.
The concert program features performances from a representative sample of students who achieved at the highest level in the October 2007 performance examinations for VCE Music: Group and Solo Performance.
There are four concerts on Saturday 15 March. Please note that solo contemporary instruments also feature in Concert 3 for the first time this year.

10.30 am Music Performance Solo: brass, percussion, [01] recorder and woodwind.
1.00 pm Music Performance Solo: classical guitar, classical piano and orchestral
strings.
3.30 pm Music Performance Solo: classical and contemporary voice and contemporary solo instruments including guitar CP, electric bass, contemporary piano and drum kit.
6.30 pm Music Performance Group/Solo: classical and contemporary groups and contemporary solo instruments including guitar CP, electric bass, contemporary piano and drum kit.
Tickets and costs
Door sales only for all Top Class Sound and Music Performance concerts.
Box office opens at 12.30 pm for Top Class: Sound on Friday 14 March.
Box office opens at 9.30 am for Top Class: Music performance on Saturday 15 March.
$8.80 and $6.60 regional conc.(100+ km from GPO)
Two (max) teachers free if accompanying student group
