Reminders For NAPLAN 2008

Principals are reminded that the first National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests will be conducted from 13-15 May 2008. To assist in the smooth running of NAPLAN 2008, the VCAA provides the following reminders.

Administrative tasks

Schools have been asked to complete the Statement of Compliance and Registration of Authorised Staff on the NAPLAN Test Administration website: www.naplanadmin.vic.edu.au (schools were provided with an individual code, ID number and password in late January 2008.)

The VCAA thanks those schools who have already completed this process and asks that schools that have not yet provided this information access the NAPLAN Test Administration website and supply the required information by Thursday 20 March.

Schools that have only nominated one staff member as being authorised to take receipt of NAPLAN test materials are strongly encouraged to revisit the NAPLAN Test Administration website and nominate additional staff members, where possible. This will help to ensure the efficient delivery of NAPLAN test materials.

Numeracy tests

Year 3 and Year 5 students will complete one Numeracy test. The use of a calculator is not permitted in either the Year 3 or the Year 5 Numeracy test.

Year 7 and Year 9 students will complete two Numeracy tests. The second Numeracy test will require the use of a calculator. Schools will need to ensure that all Year 7 and Year 9 students have either their own calculator or a calculator that they are familiar with, to use during the test. Schools are advised to have a reserve of working calculators available for students to use should students forget to bring their own calculator, or should their own calculator fail during the course of the test.

CONTACTS

For enquires relating to lost passwords and the use of the secure website, please contact the NAPLAN Helpdesk on Ph 9225 2332 or free call 1800 648 637 or 1800 820 122, or via email: vcaa.naplan.help@edumail.vic.gov.au
