VCE Media Teacher Professional Learning At Melbourne Museum

Melbourne Museum in conjunction with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority presents Teacher Professional Learning to support the Top Designs Exhibition 2008.

The State Reviewer for the School-assessed Task will discuss requirements and assessment criteria for the School-assessed Task, and available resources. Teachers are able to view the Top Designs exhibition prior to hearing from the State Reviewer. A teacher and their students whose work appears in the exhibition will discuss their experiences and how teachers can best assist students in the development of the School-assessed Task.

Filmmaker and director Dustin Feneley was a graduate of the Masters Degree in Film Direction at the Victorian College of the Arts. His films have been screened widely and won numerous international festival awards including his short film Snow (2005), which was screened in the official selection at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. Dustin will present a contemporary outlook and offer valuable insight and inspiration for teachers and students interested in the film industry.

A Top Designs student from 2006 and one from 2007 VCE Media Units 3 and 4 and their teacher discuss their experiences of completing the School-assessed Task.

Special Guest Speaker Filmmaker Dustin Feneley speaks to his acclaimed and recognised involvement in the international short film industry. Dustin is originally from Sydney and is a relatively recent graduate of the Masters Degree in Film Direction at the Victorian College of the Arts. He is a young and vibrant speaker with contemporary experiences to share and enthuse educators working with young people.

The Top Designs exhibition catalogue is also available from VCAA by mail order.
