Memorandum to Schools 46/2008

Career Information For Year 10 Students
Copies of the book Where to Now? Guide to the VCE, VCAL and Apprenticeships and Traineeships are currently being sent to schools for distribution to students and parents.
If you require further copies of the books, please contact VCAA Information Services on 9651-4544. The total number of books that you will receive is based on Year 10 enrolments. The delivery might come in separate packages and we encourage you to wait for them all to arrive before calling us. They should all have arrived by Friday 23 May.
This book provides information on options available to students in the post-compulsory years. It is jointly produced by Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), the Department of Education and Early Childhood Education (DEECD) and the Office of Training and Tertiary Education (OTTE). Where to Now? is particularly useful as a resource for careers counselling with Year 10 students and their parents.
School Newsletters, Parent Information sessions and parent-teacher interviews provide ideal opportunities for raising awareness of the options available to young people.
The information in the book is also available on the VCAA website at http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/publications/WhereToNow/wheretonowfrontpage.htm and in 15 languages other than English (Amharic, Arabic, Cambodian, Chinese, Croatian, Greek, Japanese, Macedonian, Russian, Persian, Serbian, Somali, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese) accessible from a link on the homepage (http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/lote/lotecontentindex.html)
An evaluation sheet is enclosed with the books and we would be most grateful if the appropriate staff member could complete this and return it to the VCAA. We will use teacher feedback to inform us when planning for future editions of this book. A copy is attached to this memorandum.
