Individual Assessment Timetables for Students in Chinese

Schools are alerted to an assessment timetable data error which could affect students enrolled in Chinese First Language, Chinese Second Language and Chinese Second Language Advanced.

The written examination for these three studies is scheduled for 3:00 – 5:15pm Thursday 20th November. This information has been publicised previously in the VCAA Bulletin and on our website and it is correct. However, schools that downloaded individual assessment timetables for their students prior to 27 May will have noticed that such timetables indicate the examination in each of these studies is 20th October. This is incorrect.

This error in the database has been rectified. An audit of all other examination timetable data has not revealed any other errors.

 

Action

Schools that downloaded individual student assessment timetables for October/November prior to 27 May should recover these timetables from their students, destroy them and ask their students to disregard the information contained therein.

All schools should do this irrespective of whether they have students enrolled in one of these Chinese studies. This is in order to comply with advice provided previously to schools in VASS Memorandum 43/2008 – 2008 June Examination Centres & Special Examination Arrangements. In this memorandum schools were requested not to download October/November individual assessment timetables until 8 September or afterwards. This is because information concerning Examination Centres and Special Examination Arrangements are not yet finalised.
