National Curriculum – Victorian Forums

The work of the National Curriculum Board (NCB) is gathering pace. Framing papers for curriculum in English, Mathematics, History and Science are currently being developed.

Background

The first national consultation was held by the NCB in Melbourne in June. State-based consultations on broad issues have since been held in New South Wales, the Northern Territory and Queensland. Victoria’s consultation is scheduled for 12 November.

In addition, the NCB is holding four subject-specific consultations in Melbourne in the week commencing 13 October. Details of these consultations are available on the website of the National Curriculum Board (www.ncb.org.au). As these subject-specific consultations are national, they provide only limited opportunity for participation by Victorian teachers.

Invitation

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), in partnership with subject associations, will hold an initial series of four subject-based consultation forums. The forums will be held in Melbourne in late October, and all Victorian teachers and educators are invited to attend.
