Using NAPLAN Data Updates

NAPLAN Data Service Professional Development Workshops

Schools are reminded that registration for the NAPLAN Data Service professional development workshops is now open.  The program, Assessment for Better Learning Using NAPLAN Data, will be delivered on behalf of the VCAA by School Research Evaluation and Measurement Services (SREAMS). Workshops are free-of-charge to participants and are offered at venues across Victoria. Schools find this to be a highly beneficial professional learning activity, particularly for teachers who are less familiar with large scale testing.

Full details in relation to the content, location and how to register for the workshops are provided in the VCAA’s Memorandum 102/2009 which can be found at: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/correspondence/memorandums/2009/102.html

More than 1,600 teachers have already registered for the workshops. Further places are still available at most venues and the VCAA will welcome additional attendees from schools already registered. However, bookings are still essential.

Online registration is at: www.sreams.com.au  Any queries about registration should be directed to Rowan Holmes-Smith by email: rowan@sreams.com.au or telephone: 0417 129 074.

Resource document for teachers: Using NAPLAN Data Diagnostically

The VCAA has produced a support document to assist classroom teachers in using their NAPLAN data diagnostically. The document, Using NAPLAN data diagnostically, provides specific information on how classroom teachers can use the Item Analysis, Assessment Area and Writing Criteria reports diagnostically. This will be a very useful resource to assist classroom teachers individually and working in groups to analyse NAPLAN data.

The document can be found on the VCAA website at: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vcaa/prep10/naplan/schools/teachersguide-usingnaplandata.pdf
