Memorandum to Schools 58/2009
1 June 2009
H1N1 Influenza (Human Swine Flu) and the June Examinations
The VCAA is closely monitoring the current outbreak of H1N1 Influenza (Human Swine Flu) and its impact on schools preparing for Unit 3 examinations scheduled for 9-11 June.
All scheduled June VCE examinations and the General Achievement Test (GAT) are planned to proceed.
The VCAA is liaising with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) and the Department of Human Services to monitor the situation. The VCAA asks schools to contact the Special Provision Unit immediately any students are infected or quarantined or when schools have been closed.
Special Examination Arrangements (SEA) and the Derived Examination Score (DES), including group applications will be available for the June examinations. Schools which have been subject to extended closure have been contacted by the VCAA and appropriate arrangements have been implemented.
Early contact with the Special Provision Unit will be crucial in providing the best advice to support students.
Schools will be informed immediately if the situation changes.
ACTION REQUIRED
- If your school is quarantined or you have any confirmed cases of the Swine Flu, please contact the Special Provision Unit by telephone on 9225 2219 or 1800 205 455 to discuss further action and what special provision would be applicable.
