Deadline for Top Class Sound – VCE Season of Excellence

Top Class Sound was initiated in 2008. It is a concert which presents original music composed by students in a range of studies as part of the VCE Season of Excellence. Media, Art, Studio Arts, Music Performance Group and Solo, Music Styles and Visual Communication and Design teachers are advised that applications for Top Class Sound are due on Thursday 15 October.

Now is the time to encourage students to submit original musical works composed or created for scored assessment tasks including coursework, SATs and/or performance examinations by Units 3 and 4 VCE students in VCE Art, Media, Music Group Performance, Music Solo Performance, Music Styles, Studio Arts or Visual Communication and Designs (acoustic, digital and/or screen based).

Students and teachers are invited to submit:

• original music created for inclusion in art works, media products and/or visual communications created for VCE Art, Media, Studio Arts and/or Visual Communication and Design
• music works created in Music Styles Unit 4
• works composed by students enrolled in Music Group Performance for the performance examinations
• approved Alternative Works composed by students enrolled in Music Solo Performance
• works may be performed live or via digital/electronic means as appropriate to the work
• composers and/or other performers may be involved in performance of the work

Works are selected for Top Class sound on their merit and after determination that an outstanding performance of the work can be presented at the concert.

Screen-based works containing non-original material must be accompanied by documentation showing that copyright clearance has been obtained for the non-original material. Works without appropriate documentation will not be considered by the panel.
