9 September 2009
Year 3, 5, 7 And 9 National Assessment Program – Literacy And Numeracy (NAPLAN) Test Results 2009
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide you with information in relation to NAPLAN 2009 reporting.
NAPLAN 2009 Reporting Packages
Deliveries of NAPLAN 2009 Reporting Packages will commence on Monday 14 September 2009 and are scheduled for completion by Wednesday 16 September 2009. The Reporting Package will contain:
- a covering letter
- confidential student reports for schools to distribute to parents
- a Reporting Guide which provides information about the NAPLAN Data Service
- information pamphlets for parents.
Please contact the NAPLAN Help Desk on 1800 648 637 if you have not received your NAPLAN 2009 Reporting Package by midday on Thursday 17 September 2009.
As in 2008, parent reports will include information such as:
- individual student results for all NAPLAN tests on the ten-band National Achievement Scale
- an indicator for each assessment area that shows the national average and the middle 60% of national results
- a written description for each assessment area identifying the types of skills assessed
- a summary table describing the skills and understandings students are likely to demonstrate in each of the bands.
Parental interest in NAPLAN results is very high and it is essential that parent reports are forwarded as soon as possible after their arrival at the school.

It is anticipated that NAPLAN 2009 school reports will be available via the NAPLAN Data Service from Tuesday 15 September 2009.

Please note that school passwords have been changed and re-issued. Passwords for 2009 will be supplied in a letter sent directly to principals and also in the covering letter that accompanies the delivery of the NAPLAN reporting packages.
Principals, NAPLAN coordinators and classroom teachers will be invited to attend professional development workshops where the NAPLAN Data Service reports will be demonstrated and explained at workshops across metropolitan and rural Victoria.
Details regarding location, times and registration procedures will be made available to schools in early Term 4.
