Top Class Sound will be presented at the Melbourne Recital Centre at 2 pm on Friday 26 February.

The Melbourne Recital Centre is on the corner of Southbank Boulevard and Sturt Street, Southbank, on tram route No.1 or a short walk from Flinders Street station.
The concert will include works for a string quartet, solo piano, a stage band, guitar and voice, a wind quartet, a piano trio, clarinet, piano and cello and one work for theremin, bagpipes, electric guitar and bass clarinet.
The original musical works were created for VCE Music Styles, and Media assessment tasks. Composers have rehearsed with student and professional musicians to bring the works to the stage.
Some works will be performed using all acoustic instruments, others will feature backing tracks and live performance. There will also be a live performance of a soundtrack for a music video. The music styles in the program range from rock and world, to music theatre and classical.
Applications for Top Class Sound are sought in October each year. VCE students in a range of studies including Art, Studio Arts, Music Styles, Music Performance, Visual Communication and Design and VET Multimedia who have created music or sound tracks for assessed task are encouraged to apply.
Students from year 7-12 who are interested in creating original music should attend this concert to hear what is possible and be inspired to create their own compositions.
