This Notice is to provide schools with information to assist in the administration of NAPLAN 2010.
VCAA NAPLAN Helpdesk
The VCAA operates a helpdesk service to assist principals and NAPLAN coordinators with queries related to all aspects of NAPLAN 2010. Contact details are:
Freecall: 1800 648 637
Email: vcaa.naplan.help@edumail.vic.gov.au
Principal and NAPLAN Coordinator’s guides
All schools should have received their Principal and NAPLAN Coordinator’s guides early in Term 1. Also included in the package was information regarding the NAPLAN Test Administration website which can be found at: www.naplanadmin.vic.edu.au
If you have not received this information as yet, please contact the NAPLAN helpdesk.
Following are reminders of some important tasks that schools are required to complete by the dates given.
Pre-enrolment of students for Independent schools
Pre-enrolment of students from Independent schools is completed by uploading student data through the NAPLAN Test Administration website. (Government and Catholic school student enrolments are supplied to the VCAA through census data.) Please contact the NAPLAN helpdesk if you require any assistance with this process.
Completion date: Friday 19 February 2010. (Please note the February completion date.)
Statement of Compliance and Registration of Authorised Staff (all schools)
All principals are required to complete a Statement of Compliance and to register staff authorised to take delivery of NAPLAN test materials. These tasks are completed online, via the NAPLAN Test Administration website. Completion date: Friday 19 March 2010.
Ordering Large Print, Black and White and Braille test versions (all schools)
All NAPLAN test materials are available in Large Print, Black and White and Braille versions. To enhance the ordering process for these materials, orders are now made online via the NAPLAN Test Administration website. Completion date: Friday 19 March 2010.
Requests to vary NAPLAN 2010 test dates
As in 2009, schools with compelling reasons are able to request permission for classes or groups to participate in the tests in the week after testing. The compelling reasons must be of a serious order and could, for example, include cases where a school has booked an overseas excursion and the dates cannot be changed. This option is not available for individual students who are absent on test days.
Schools wishing to vary their test dates for classes or groups of students must complete the Request to Vary Dates form in the Principal and NAPLAN Coordinator’s guide.
Government and Catholic schools must receive approval from their Regional Director or Regional Manager prior to applying for a variation to test dates. Independent schools should fax the form directly to the VCAA. All Requests to Vary Dates forms must be completed and returned to the VCAA by Friday 19 March 2010.
Individual students are able to undertake catch-up tests on any day after the scheduled test within the test week, i.e. up until Friday 14 May 2010. However, students who are absent for the three test days should not be expected to complete all tests on Friday 14 May 2010.
The VCAA strongly recommends that schools make this information known to parents prior to the NAPLAN testing dates.
