Copyright Agency Limited (CAL) is a non-profit, member-based organisation that manages licensed copying and communication of literary, dramatic and artistic works. Their members are Australian authors, journalists, visual artists, and newspaper, magazine and book publishers. CAL acts as a channel between copyright rights holders and those who copy their works. The Arts Law Centre of Australia is the national community legal centre for the arts. It is a not for profit company established with the support of the Australia Council. PPCA is a national, non-government, non-profit organisation representing record companies and recording artists. PPCA grants licenses to anyone publicly playing sound recordings or music videos. Screenrights, formerly trading as the Audio-Visual Copyright Society, is a non-profit copyright collecting society for producers, distributors, scriptwriters, music copyright owners, rights owners in artistic works and sound recordings and other rights holders in film and television. Screenrights administers certain rights in film and television programs on behalf of these copyright owners, collecting fees for the exercise of these rights and distributing this money to the relevant rights holders.

The AMCOS website has useful documents regarding music and copyright, especially a brochure entitled Music Copyright for Schools.
AMCOS conduct information sessions for schools on music copyright. They do not charge a research fee for students using the AMCOS search service to locate copyright owners of music.
AMCOS also provide a service where they will perform a search on ownership to a music title. The form for this service can be downloaded from the AMCOS website at: www.amcos.com.au/
