About Top Designs

A major part of the VCAA’s Season of Excellence, Top Designs presents the work of a representative sample of exemplary student work.

Top Designs exhibitors are high achievers for their year, both in terms of their marks and their approach to style, design and creativity.

Over 2000 students from Victorian Government, independent and Catholic schools submitted applications across five selection areas:

Media
Design and Technology
Food and Technology
Systems and Technology
Visual Communication and Design
VCE VET Multimedia.

The selection panel for each area includes the State Reviewer and Assistant State Reviewer for each study, a regional teacher representative and an industry and teacher association representative, where appropriate, and relevant industry representatives from these organisations:

The application form is available from August each year and the deadline falls in the third week of October. Initially works are short listed by a selection panel of six. Works are then assembled accompanied by developmental works and a final selection is made.
