Teachers from West Highlands Teachers’ Club, Papua New Guinea
visit the VCAA, Melbourne, 2010.
On 17 September 2010 a delegation of 16 teachers from West Highlands Teachers’ Club, Mt Hagen, Papua New Guinea visited the VCAA. The visit was organised with the assistance of Laverton Point Cook Rotary Club as part of their “Bridging Nations” project.
The delegation was welcomed by Justin Shortal, the VCAA’s manager of public affairs. Discussions were held about the Australian National Curriculum, Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) as well as an extended discussion with Dr John McSwiney, the VCAA’s manager of corporate governance, on the VCAA’s assessment procedures and the possibilities of partnership agreements between Victorian schools and schools in Papua New Guinea.
