The VCAA invites you to the
Plain English Speaking Awards
Semifinals and State Final 2009
Come and hear some of Victoria's best young speakers presenting a topic of their choice and drawing on their reserves and knowledge to speak in an impromptu setting
Semifinals: Tuesday 23 June and Wednesday 24 June 2009
There will be two sessions on each day:
- 9.00 am for 9.30 start
- 12.30 pm for 1.00 start
You are welcome to attend a morning or afternoon session, or both.
State Final: Thursday 25 June 2009
- 9.30 am for 10.00 am start (approx. finish 12 noon)
Venue: Treasury Theatre, 1 MacArthur Place, East Melbourne
(In the government precinct, opposite Parliament Station)
- Teachers are invited to bring school groups to hear some of the best speakers who have entered the Award this year.
- At all the finals students will present a prepared speech of six-minutes. They will then be given an impromptu topic on which to speak for three minutes.
- Refreshments will be served. There is no entry fee for this event but we would appreciate you RSVP with approximate numbers by Wednesday 17 June
