Kerry's Success Story

Kerry will be studying for a Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Melbourne this year. However, he will continue to pursue his passion for media as a hobby and may even move into that area of study one day.
At Thornbury High School he was heavily involved in the school’s TV program which airs on Channel 31. From this he developed a passion for the creative side of the media which he hopes to keep up while studying at university and working as an engineer in the future.
Often VCE students set their sights on a particular course which, for whatever reason, they can’t immediately pursue. Kerry’s advice is ‘be flexible because there are many pathways to get into the job or course that you really want’.
‘At the beginning of Year 12 I felt like I couldn’t cope but as the year progressed it got easier. Looking back it was a rewarding experience – being able to achieve and get through the year.’ Some advice that he would give to Year 12 students is, ‘Start your revision early, well before exam time. If you have mid-year exams you will need to revise twice in the year. If you haven’t revised all through second semester it will be all the more difficult at the end of the year’.
He also recommends students stay on top of homework as it is set and be ready for class tests and SACs as they come along.
