Student Card of Megan

‘At 17 it was very hard to make a decision about what VCE subjects to take in Year 12. I knew I was interested in the law but at the last minute I decided to try and fit in both Legal Studies and Physical Education. I was lucky that my school timetable made this possible.

‘Now I am very glad that I was able to do this because I have been offered a scholarship to the University of Adelaide to study for a Bachelor of Law/Health Science double degree. I am happy that I can keep both my fields of interest going and maybe I will study Medicine later on.

‘There’s no doubt that the final year of school is a difficult one. I am lucky that the teachers at my school, St Brigid’s College in Horsham, were very supportive. I also had a great group of friends and we all looked out for each other. This helped to keep the workload in perspective.

‘Early in my Year 12 I realised that I needed a schedule. This would give me set blocks of time for study and non-study. My advice to others is to plan your time well and never be afraid to ask for help.

I did a lot of reading, memorising and self-testing for my coursework and exams. I advise others to start early and not leave anything to the last minute.’
