Review of the VCAL Literacy and Numeracy Skills units
2007/2008 Review
Review Team and Stakeholder Group
The VCAA completed a review of VCAL in 2004. To ensure that the content of the VCAL units is relevant and meets the needs of the student cohort, the review recommended that the VCAL units be reviewed over a five year cycle. The VCAA is currently reviewing The VCAL Literacy and Numeracy Skills Units for proposed implementation in 2009.
A Literacy Skills Units Review Team and a Numeracy Skills Units Review Team is developing a proposal in accordance with the VCAA Principles, Guidelines and Procedures for Review of VCAL Units, particularly with regard to:
- the appropriateness of the framework structure, Unit Purpose, Content Summary, Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria statements for all VCAL Literacy Skills and Numeracy Skills units
- the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the units and the opportunity to incorporate ICT into the VCAL curriculum
- the relevance of the content of the Literacy Skills and Numeracy Skills units.
In the development of the proposal the review teams will ensure that they consult with key interest groups including current VCAL Literacy and Numeracy Skills teachers.
