Music: Solo PerformanceInstruments and equipmentEach student can perform on only one of the instruments identified in the list. For some instruments, for example Guitar – Contemporary Popular, the list contains further specification. For all candidates, one music stand, one acoustic piano and access to a power point will be provided at the examination venue. All students enrolled in Pianoforte and Contemporary Piano will perform on an acoustic piano. Students will be given a choice of using either an upright or grand pianoforte for the end-of-year performance examination. Some percussion equipment may be supplied at some venues. Further details about this equipment can be obtained from the VCAA prior to the commencement of the assessment period. The student must supply all other equipment. This includes musical instruments, amplifiers, electronic keyboards, playback equipment such as a CD, minidisk or tape player, power boards and extension chords. Public address systems and any voice amplification devices are not permitted. AccompanimentsOnly one accompanist can be used in the performance of a single work. Different accompanists may be used in the performance of works across the program. Details regarding the nature and scope of accompaniment which may be used by students performing are provided at the beginning of the lists for specific instruments. An acoustic piano will be provided at each venue where Solo performance recital examinations are conducted. All other instruments used for accompaniment and/or playback equipment for pre-recorded accompaniments must be provided by the student (or accompanist). Accompanists are not required to play all bars of the introduction or lengthy passages following the conclusion of the solo part. |
