Music: Solo Performance
Students may use print music except in the case of Voice – Classical and Voice
– Contemporary Popular where the complete performance should be sung from
memory.
Students should comply with the requirements of current copyright laws
regarding the use of print music. For information on copyright guidelines,
schools and teachers are advised to refer to the following publications:

Students and teachers should note the following:
-
Where works have an arranger stated, then the edition listed is the only one
permitted. This is essential as the level of difficulty will vary between
arrangements. No other arranger or arrangement of the same work is approved.
-
Where more than one edition of a work is available this may be indicated by
use of the term ‘any edition’. Alternately specific editions may be listed.
Different editions may
-
contain minor variations from each other, for example in detail of fingering,
minor changes in phrasing
-
be identical to each other, but issued under a different publisher’s imprint
-
Where one or more editions are listed for a specific work, other editions
which are essentially identical to those listed may also be used, for example
the same print music for a song may be included in a number of anthologies
issued by the same publisher.
-
For works in the Baroque and Classical stylistic eras, and prior stylistic
eras, the editions listed are ‘recommended’. If other editions are used, their
accuracy should be checked against the editions listed.
-
For works from the Romantic and post-Romantic stylistic eras, the editions are
for identification purposes. Any other edition of these works may be used.
-
Some works may be available from the same publisher as single title print
music and within an anthology(ies). The two editions should be checked to
ensure that they are in fact identical.
