Amendments to study design
Teachers should note that there has been an amendment to page 23 of the VCE Physical Eduction Study Design.
Unit 4: Enhancing physical performance
Area of study 2: Strategies for enhancing performance
The following points of Key knowledge and Key skills in VCE Physical Education Unit 4, Area of study 2 should be deleted:
- managing a training load, including physiological and psychological factors affecting recovery and overtraining

identify and explain from physiological and psychological perspectives factors affecting recovery and overtraining
(Key skills)
The following new points of Key knowledge and Key skills should be included in the VCE Physical Education Study Design for Unit 4, Area of Study 2 Strategies for enhancing sports performance.
Key knowledge
- managing a training load, including physiological factors affecting training, recovery and overtraining;
- psychological factors which impact on performance including motivation, arousal, anxiety, confidence, mental imagery and concentration in relation to training, recovery and competition;
Key skills
- identify and explain physiological factors affecting training, recovery and overtraining;
- identify and explain psychological factors which impact on performance in relation to training, recovery and competition;
A copy of the amended VCE Physical Education Unit 4 Area of Study 2 is published in VCAA Bulletin, Liftout 1, February 2007.
The VCAA requires that these changes are incorporated into teaching VCE Physical Education in 2007 until the accreditation period of the Study Design expires.
