Recognition of VET in VCE

There are three ways in which VET qualifications are recognised within the VCE.

VCE VET

VCE VET programs are vocational training programs approved by the VCAA. VCE VET programs lead to nationally recognised qualifications, thereby offering students the opportunity to gain both the VCE and a nationally portable VET qualification. VCE VET programs provide credit towards the VCE in the form of VCE VET units and the VCAL through nominal hour credit.

Further details of the recognition of VCE VET programs including VCE VET unit entitlement, duplication rules and the ATAR contribution are published in  each of the individual VCE VET program booklets. These program booklets can be found under the 'Publications' section on the individual VCE VET program webpages.

School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships

Structured training arrangements, involving on and off the job training, for a student employed under an apprenticeship or traineeship training contract.

Block Credit Recognition

Students who undertake a nationally recognised VET or Further Education (FE) qualification, that is not included in the suite of approved VCE VET programs and School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships may be eligible for credit towards their VCE. This credit is called Block Credit Recognition.
