Qualifications

Enrolment status: new enrolments from 2012

The following qualifications are available in the VCE VET Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management program:

  • Program 1: AHC20110 Certificate II in Agriculture
    • Certificate II in Agriculture provides students with the knowledge and skills that will enhance their employment prospects in the agriculture industry. Knowledge and skills are developed in harvesting, maintaining livestock feed and water supplies, mustering, moving and penning up livestock, and performing routine farm machinery maintenance. Employment opportunities exist in a number of designated sectors such a beef, dairy, sheep and wool production.
  • Program 2: AHC20410 Certificate II in Horticulture
    • Certificate II in Horticulture provides students with the knowledge and skills that will enhance their employment prospects in the horticulture industry. Knowledge and skills gained from this qualification are from units of competency including developing and maintaining plants and landscapes, propagation, tending nursery plants and planting, pruning, treating weeds, pests and diseases. Employment opportunities exist in a number of industry sectors such as landscaping, nursery, parks and gardens, and turf management.
  • Program 3: AHC21010 Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management
    • Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management provides students with the knowledge and skills that will enhance their employment prospects in the conservation and land management industry. Students will develop skills and knowledge in plants, propagation and controlling weeds, natural area restoration and management, and parks and wildlife. Employment opportunities exist in a variety of roles in conserving and protecting parks, bushland, creeks and rivers.

The following qualifications are available as a School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship program:

  • AHC20110 Certificate II in Agriculture
  • AHC20310 Certificate II in Production Horticulture
  • AHC20410 Certificate II in Horticulture

Credit in the VCE

  • Program 1: AHC20110 Certificate II in Agriculture: recognition of two or more units at Units 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.
  • Program 2: AHC20410 Certificate II in Horticulture: recognition of two or more units at Units 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.
  • Program 3: AHC21010 Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management: recognition of two or more units at Units 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.

ATAR Contribution

Students who receive a Units 3 and 4 sequence for Program 1, 2 or 3 of VCE VET Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation and Land Management will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies). The increment is awarded by the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). Further information can be found on the VTAC website: www.vtac.edu.au

The VCE VET Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation and Land Management program does not offer scored assessment.

  • Continuous improvement - During the life of the AHC10 Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation and Land Management Training Package there may be occasions when changes are made to reflect feedback from users or to include the latest industry practices. This process is called Continuous Improvement. When Continuous Improvement impacts on the VCE VET Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation and Land Management program, advice will be published in the VCAA Bulletin VCE, VCAL and VET and links to these updates will be published on the VCE VET Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation and Land Management page on the VCAA website.
