Qualification

Enrolment status: new enrolments from 2012

The following qualification is available in the VCE VET Animal Studies program:

  • ACM20110 Certificate II in Animal Studies
    • Certificate II in Animal Studies provides students with the skills and knowledge to enter the Animal Care and Management industry. Employment opportunities reflect roles such as Animal Care Attendant, Animal Shelter Attendant, Kennel Hand, Cattery Attendant, Pet Shop Attendant and Assistant Dog Groomer.

Note: The Units 3 and 4 sequence is not designed as a stand-alone study. Students are strongly advised against undertaking the Units 3 and 4 sequence without first completing Units 1 and 2.

Credit in the VCE

Students who complete Certificate II in Animal Studies will be eligible for four units credit towards their VCE: two units at Units 1 and 2 level, and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.

ATAR Contribution

Students who receive a Units 3 and 4 sequence for ACM20110 Certificate II in Animal Studies will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies). The increment is awarded by the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). Further information on the ATAR can be found on the VTAC website: www.vtac.edu.au

The VCE VET Animal Studies program does not offer scored assessment.

Program updates and further information

  • Continuous improvement - During the life of the ACM10 Animal Care and Management Training Package, there may be occasions when changes are made to reflect feedback from users or to include the latest industry practices. This process is called Continuous Improvement. When Continuous Improvement impacts on the VCE VET Animal Studies program, advice will be published in the VCAA Bulletin VCE, VCAL and VET and links to these updates will be published on the VCE VET Animal Studies page on the VCAA website.

 

New programs are approved from time to time and are announced in the VCAA Bulletin VCE, VCAL and VET. The details for each of these programs are published by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.
