Pre-apprenticeships
A pre-apprenticeship is a nationally recognised qualification that has an automatic training and duration credit into the apprenticeship in the same industry area. A pre-apprenticeship training program prepares the student for entry into an apprenticeship or traineeship by equipping the student with foundation knowledge and skills.
Formal pre-apprenticeship arrangements have been approved by Skills Victoria for:
Students who complete the CHC20108 Certificate II in Community Services and selected units of competence from CHC30108 Certificate III in Community Services Work and CHC30708 Certificate III in Children's Services are eligible for credit of up to five VCE VET units on their VCE Statement of Results: up to three units at Units 1 and 2 (depending on the electives chosen) and two units at Units 3 and 4.
Students undertaking a School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship program in any of the three qualifications available, credit will be dependant upon the amount of training undertaken. Further details
Students wishing to receive an ATAR contribution for the Units 3 and 4 sequence of VCE VET Community Services must undertake scored assessment for the purpose of achieving a study score. This study score can contribute directly to the primary four or as a fifth or sixth study.
Students who receive a Units 3 and 4 sequence for a School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship program in Community Services may choose to undertake scored assessment or may choose to opt-out and receive a 10% increment towards their ATAR (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies).
Students wishing to receive a study score for VCE VET Community Services must undertake scored assessment in the VCE VET Community Services program: CHC20108 Certificate II in Community Services and selected units of competence from Certificate III in Community Services Work and Certificate III in Children's Services. This consists of three coursework tasks, worth 66% of the overall study score and an end of year examination, worth 34% of the overall study score.
Note: Materials relating to scored assessment are available under the "Publications" section on this webpage.
