Qualifications

Enrolment status: current

The following qualification is available as a VCE VET program:

  • 21278VIC Certificate II in Furnishing (Pre-apprenticeship in Cabinet Making)

Work on a revised VCE VET Furnishing program will commence in 2008 for implementation in 2009.

Pre-apprenticeships

A pre-apprenticeship is a nationally recognised qualification that has an automatic training and duration credit into the apprenticeship in the same industry area. A pre-apprenticeship training program prepares the student for entry into a trade based apprenticeship by equipping the student with foundation knowledge and skills.

Formal pre-apprenticeship arrangements have been approved by Skills Victoria (formerly OTTE) for 21278VIC Certificate II in Furnishing (Pre-apprenticeship in Cabinet Making).

Note: The Units 3 and 4 sequence of VCE VET Furnishing is not designed as a stand-alone study. Students are strongly advised against undertaking the Units 3 and 4 sequence without first completing Units 1 and 2.

Credit in the VCE

Students who complete 21278VIC Certificate II in Furnishing (Pre-apprenticeship Cabinet Making) will be eligible for up to seven units credit towards their VCE: five units at Units 1 and 2, and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.

ENTER Contribution

Students wishing to receive an ENTER contribution for the Units 3 and 4 sequence of VCE VET Furnishing must undertake scored assessment for the purpose of achieving a study score. This study score can contribute directly to the primary four or as a fifth or sixth study.

Scored Assessment

Students wishing to receive a study score for VCE VET Furnishing must undertake scored assessment. This consists of four coursework tasks, worth 66% of the overall study score and an end of year examination, worth 34% of the overall study score.
