Hospitality - School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships

    The following qualifications from the SIT07 Tourism, Hospitality and Events Training Package are available as School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships:

    • Option 1: SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality
    • Option 2: SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality with selected units of competence from SIT30707 Certificate III in Hospitality
    • Option 3: SIT20307 Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations)

     

    Credit in the VCE

    There are three options for contribution to satisfactory completion of the VCE:

    • Option 1: SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality will contribute up to three VCE VET units credit at Units 1 and 2 level
    • Option 2: SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality with selected units of competence from SIT30707 Certificate III in Hospitality provides three VCE VET units credit at Units 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence. The student will have to undertake a training program of a minimum of 400 hours duration to be awarded credit at Units 3 and 4 level.
    • Option 3: SIT20307 Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) will contribute two VCE VET units credit at Units 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.

     

    Study Score

    Students undertaking Option 2 and Option 3 may choose to undertake scored assessment for the purposes of gaining a study score. This consists of three coursework tasks, worth 66% of the overall study score and an end of year examination, worth 34% of the overall study score.

    Students wishing to receive a study score have to be enrolled in the designated VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequence, as prescribed in the VCE VET Hospitality Program Booklet (published in October 2008) in a single enrolment year and comply with the rules applying to scored assessment.

     

    ATAR Contribution

    Students who receive a Units 3 and 4 sequence for a School-based Apprenticeship or Traineeship in Hospitality may choose to undertake scored assessment or may choose to opt-out and receive a 10% increment towards their ATAR (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies).
