Qualifications

Enrolment status: new from 2009

The following qualifications are available as a VCE VET program:

  • Program 1: SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality and selected units of competence from SIT30707 Certificate III in Hospitality
  • Program 2: SIT20307 Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations)

The following qualifications are available as a School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship program:

  • Option 1: SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality
  • Option 2: SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality with selected units of competence from SIT30707 Certificate III in Hospitality
  • Option 3: SIT20307 Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations)

Enrolment status: continuing students only
No new students may enrol in THH21802 in 2009 and beyond.

The following qualification is available as a VCE VET program:

  • THH21802 Certificate II in Hospitality (Operations) with selected units of competence leading to Certificate III in Hospitality

The following qualification is available as a School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship program:

  • THH21802 Certificate II in Hospitality (Operations)

Note: The Units 3 and 4 sequence of VCE VET Hospitality is not designed as a stand-alone study. Students cannot undertake the Units 3 and 4 sequence without first completing the five core units of competence which comprise Unit 1.

Credit in the VCE

For new VCE VET program SIT20207:
Students who complete SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality and selected units of competence from SIT30707 Certificate III in Hospitality will be eligible for up to five units of credit: three at Units 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.

Students who complete SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) will be eligible for up to four units of credit towards their VCE: two at Units 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.

Students undertaking both Program 1 and Program 2 will be eligible for up to eight units of credit towards their VCE: four units at Units 1 and 2 level and four units at Units 3 and 4 level.

For continuing students in VCE VET program THH21802:
Students who complete only Certificate II in Hospitality (Operations) will be eligible for two units credit at Units 1 and 2 towards their VCE.

Students who complete Certificate II in Hospitality (Operations) with additional units of competence from Certificate III in Hospitality will be eligible for four units credit towards their VCE: two units at Units 1 and 2 and a Units 3 and 4 sequence.

ENTER Contribution

Students wishing to receive an ENTER contribution for the Units 3 and 4 sequence VCE VET Hospitality (Operations) must undertake scored assessment for the purpose of achieving a study score. This study score can contribute directly to the primary four or as a fifth or sixth study.

Students who receive a Units 3 and 4 sequence for a School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship program in Hospitality may choose to undertake scored assessment or may choose to opt-out and receive a a 10% increment towards their ENTER (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies).

Scored Assessment

Students wishing to receive a study score for VCE VET Hospitality (Operations) must undertake Scored Assessment. This consists of three coursework tasks, worth 66% of the overall study score and an end of year examination, worth 34% of the overall study score.

Scored Assessment is based on the Units 3 and 4 sequence of VCE VET Hospitality (Operations).
