Sport and Recreation - School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships

The following qualifications from the SRC03 Community Recreation, SRS03 Sport and Recreation, SRO03 Outdoor Recreation training packages are available as School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships:

  • SRC20206 Certificate II in Community Recreation
  • SRO20106 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation
  • SRO20206 Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation
  • SRO20306 Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation (Multiple Activities)
  • SRS20206 Certificate II in Sport (Career Oriented Participation)
  • SRS20306 Certificate II in Sport (Coaching)
  • SRS20406 Certificate II in Sport (Officiating)

 

Credit in the VCE

There are two options for contribution to satisfactory completion of the VCE:

  • Option 1: a Certificate II in Community Recreation/Outdoor Recreation/Sport will contribute up to four VCE VET units at Units 1 and 2 level
  • Option 2: the Certificate II in Community Recreation/Outdoor Recreation/Sport with additional units of competence from Certificate III in Community Recreation/Fitness/Outdoor Recreation/Sport contributes up to four VCE VET units at 1 and 2 level and a Units 3 and 4 sequence. Students must complete a minimum of 180 hours of Certificate III level training to be awarded credit at Units 3 and 4.

Students can accumulate VCE VET units over more than one year

Apprentices who do not achieve the minimum requirements for the qualification, as listed in the Training Package, will receive from the RTO a Statement of Attainment listing those competencies achieved. A record of their achievement will also appear in their Training Record Book.

 

Study Score

Students undertaking the Option 2 may choose to undertake scored assessment for the purposes of gaining a Study Score. In this case, the VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequence is prescribed, as detailed in the VCE VET Sport and Recreation program booklet (published September 2005). Students wishing access to a Study Score will have to be enrolled in the appropriate VCE VET Sport and Recreation program in the designated units of competence in the single enrolment year and comply with the rules applying to scored assessment.

Students wishing to receive a study score for must undertake scored assessment. This consists of three coursework tasks, worth 66% of the overall study score and an end of year examination, worth 34% of the overall study score.

 

ENTER Contribution

School Based Apprentices and Trainees wishing to receive a study score will need to undertake the Units 3 and 4 sequence from the VCE VET program with scored assessment. School Based Apprentices and Trainees wishing to receive a 10% increment towards their ENTER (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies) will need to undertake further training at Certificate III level - please contact the VET Unit for further information - (03) 9651 4458.
