Planning a 2-year program
This video explains how to use the VCAA ‘Curriculum Planning Tool’ to plan a 2-year VCE program and identify the resources available on the language study pages that may be useful when planning.
Selecting subtopics
This video focuses on identifying the link between the concept and topic, and the important considerations when selecting a subtopic. The video also introduces the ‘Suggested subtopic’ resource, and how topics can be explored through different perspectives by adjusting the subtopic.
An Australian focus in the study design
This video identifies what the Australian focus means, why it is important, and where in the study design it can be located. Additionally, teachers will explore how the teaching and learning activities reflect the key knowledge and key skills, and how the Australian focus may be represented in an assessment task.
Viewing - The 5th macro skill
Throughout their VCE Languages studies, students will be expected to demonstrate the macro skill of viewing. This video introduces viewing - the 5th macro skill - and unpacks how to choose effective visual texts and use images effectively in assessment tasks.
Designing effective extended writing tasks
This video provides guidance and advice about how to design effective extended writing tasks. Teachers will be given tips and ideas to help them design school-based assessment tasks that are effective assessment tools, meet the requirements of the VCE Study Design, and align with the VCE assessment principles.
Designing effective integrated tasks
This video explores what an integrated task is and identifies where in the study design the integrated tasks can be found. Additionally, teachers will explore strategies for designing effective integrated tasks that align with the VCE Study Design and the assessment principles.
Revised CCAFL Study Designs – Overview
This presentation focuses on the revised VCE CCAFL study designs, which will be implemented in 2024 for Units 1 and 2 and in 2025 for Units 3 and 4. Information is also provided about the Concepts, Topics and Perspectives, and how these are related to both the teaching and learning program and the outcomes for Units 1-4. Additional information is provided about the changes in the revised study designs. This video also indicates where more information can be found regarding the implementation and the location of the revised VCE CCAFL Study designs.
