Professional learning: 2026 Special Examination Arrangements (SEA)

Principals/Directors, VCE coordinators, VASS administrators, and staff responsible for administering special provisions

To support the submission of 2026 Special Examination Arrangements (SEA) applications, the VCAA will run in-person and online professional learning in December 2025 and February 2026.

VCE coordinators and school personnel responsible for administering special provisions are strongly encouraged to attend one or more of these workshops.

Workshop details

Please read the document for key changes to be discussed in the workshops. The training is designed to cover school-based evidence requirements and the 2026 SEA application process.

• Tuesday 9 December 2025: SEA update, training and Q&A session

• Wednesday 10 December 2025: SEA process update
• Tuesday 10 February 2026: SEA process update

Additionally, the Special Examination Arrangements for VCE external assessments page will be updated in mid-December, following the release of 2025 final exam results. These changes reinforce that the VCAA will aim to approve Special Examination Arrangements consistent with existing special provisions implemented by the school.  

Critical dates

Please refer to the information above for professional learning dates. 

From next year, these critical dates will apply for 2026 Special Examination Arrangement applications:

• Tuesday 27 January: Special Provision Online platform opens for 2026 SEA applications
• Monday 23 February: Applications for rollover of previously approved 2026 SEA closes
• Friday 6 March: 2026 SEA applications for ongoing conditions closes
