2026 VCE Vocational Major studies access

Principals/Directors, VCE and VCE VM coordinators and teachers

In 2026, VCE VM Literacy and VCE VM Numeracy will continue being available to students undertaking an eligible VCE VM program.

Students undertaking the VCE VM can meet the Literacy requirement using other units from the VCE English group, and can meet the Numeracy requirement using other units from the VCE Mathematics group of studies – see the VCE Administration Handbook.

In 2025, VCE VM Work Related Skills and VCE VM Personal Development Skills were made available for schools to offer to all VCE students. This gives them the opportunity to benefit from applied learning subjects regardless of the specific pathway chosen as part of their VCE.

The VCAA is continuing to investigate the implications of expanding access to VCE VM Literacy and VCE VM Numeracy to all VCE students and will share findings when available.
