Available: Updates to VCE Extended Investigation declaration and advice

Principals/Directors, VCE Coordinators and VCE Extended Investigation teachers

A range of updates have been made to the:

  • VCE Extended Investigation Student and teacher declaration submitted to the VCAA with the Externally-assessed task: written report
  • Authentication and undue assistance advice

The updated documents are accessible on the VCE Extended Investigation Assessment page.

Updates to the VCE Extended Investigation Student and teacher declaration aims to strengthen clarity and includes:

  • A new declaration regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in producing a written report and the use of plagiarism software such as Turnitin.
  • A change in process to include a written authentication investigation report endorsed by the School Principal with the declaration if the teacher is unable to declare that to the best of their knowledge, unacknowledged work is the student’s own.
  • Updates to the Authentication and undue assistance advice also strengthens guidance on the use of AI for this study and the requirements of the written authentication investigation report.

Action

Principals/Directors, please ensure that VCE Extended Investigation teachers are aware of the updates to the Student and teacher declaration, and Authentication and undue assistance advice.
