Notice to Schools 41 - 4 May 2026
2026 exam scheduling: VCE Performance and Languages oral examination and Extended Investigation oral presentation
Principals/Directors, VCE Coordinators and teachers of VCE Performing Arts studies, VCE Languages and VCE Extended Investigation
Schools must advise the VCAA of significant school-based events that may require student attendance, for all or a significant part of a day within the assessment period (Monday 5 October to Monday 26 October, and Saturday 31 October to Sunday 1 November 2026).
Schools are also requested to advise the VCAA of religious or cultural observation events if they have students that must attend these.
This information is used to timetable Unit 3−4 Performance examinations, Languages oral examinations and Extended Investigation oral presentations.
The VCAA will assume student availability during the assessment period is unrestricted, unless advised via completion of the survey. Requests for student rescheduling will not be possible if we do not receive school advice by Thursday 7 May.
A significant school-based event may include a final year assembly or graduation ceremony. Schools can nominate one school-based event day only as unavailable for timetabling. Students may be timetabled either side of the nominated day.
Religious or cultural observation events include days where students, due to religious or cultural beliefs and practices, are not able to attend an examination.
Schools who wish to nominate days of religious observation must email vcaa.performance.assessments@education.vic.gov.au with the details of these days. Please note that days nominated as religious observation events can be in addition to a significant school-based event nominated via the survey.
