Notice to Schools 76 - 6 August 2026

2026 validation of student postal addresses

Principals/Directors, VCE and VCE VM Coordinators, and VASS Administrators

From Monday 5 October, the VCAA will undertake validation of student addresses for:

  • students enrolled in one or more VCE or scored VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence
  • students enrolled in one or more VCE VM Unit 3-4 sequence
  • students enrolled in International Baccalaureate, in their final year of study (i.e. Year 12)

This process aims to maximise the successful delivery of hard copy results to student postal addresses.

It is important that correct student address details are entered in full on VASS as soon as possible, before Monday 5 October. This includes identifying the apartment, flat, unit, house and property number where relevant.

Before the validation process begins, principals should ensure student addresses are valid, current and correct.

Note:

  • If student addresses do not conform to Australia Post standards, the VCAA will email schools and provide a reason why an address could not be validated. Schools are required to review invalid addresses and amend in VASS accordingly.
  • Schools will not receive a notification if all addresses are valid.

When entering student addresses that are longer than the available character length on VASS, the address should be abbreviated in the most meaningful way possible.
