Now open: 2027 enrolment applications for VCE Units 3-4 in English as an Additional Language (EAL), and Second Language studies

Principals/Directors, VCE Coordinators, VASS Administrators, and VCE teachers 

2027 enrolment application forms are now available on VASS for the following VCE Unit 3-4 studies. Only home schools are permitted to enrol students in these VCE studies:

Second Language Studies

Eligibility and supporting documentation requirements are detailed in the relevant application form and in the Enrolment in Second Language Studies section of the 2027 VCE Administrative Handbook, due for publication on 20 August.

To ensure students are aware of their Second Language status and are enrolled in the correct study at the beginning of the academic year, applications must be submitted to the VCAA with the required supporting documentation by Friday 9 October 2026.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Two application forms are available for students applying to enrol in EAL:

  • The Application for Enrolment in English as an Additional Language (EAL) Units 3 and 4 – Category I should be completed by students from non-English-speaking backgrounds.
  • The Application for Enrolment in English as an Additional Language (EAL) Units 3 and 4 – Category II should be completed by students who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing.

Eligibility and supporting documentation requirements are detailed in the relevant application form and in the Enrolment in English as an Additional Language (EAL) section of the 2027 VCE Administrative Handbook.

Home schools are not required to submit an application to the VCAA if a student clearly meets the eligibility requirements and does not have Singapore or India as their country of origin.

For all students where Singapore or India is their country of origin, or where the home school cannot determine student’s eligibility, schools must submit an application with the required supporting documentation to the VCAA.

To ensure students are aware of their EAL status and are enrolled in the correct English study at the beginning of the academic year, applications must be submitted to the VCAA with the required supporting documentation by Friday 9 October 2026, where necessary.

Principals/Directors, please share this information with the relevant staff and make sure all applications are submitted via email by the due date.
