Notice to Schools 95 - 15 October 2026
Reminder: Smart glasses and electronic devices capable of storing, receiving or transmitting information are not permitted in VCE external assessments
Principals/Directors, VCE Coordinators and VASS Administrators
The VCAA requests schools remind all students presenting for a VCE external assessment, including a performance, languages oral, Extended Investigation oral presentation or written examination, that the use or possession of smart glasses is prohibited.
Smart glasses are electronic devices capable of recording, transmitting and/or receiving information and are not permitted in the examination room as per the VCAA published examination rules.
Students found in possession of or using smart glasses, mobile phones or any other prohibited electronic device during an examination may be in breach of VCAA examination rules, and the matter may be investigated as a suspected examination breach.
Students undertaking performance examinations are permitted to bring approved audio devices (mobile phones, tablets, MP3 players, iPods and laptops) into the examination room where these are used as part of the performance. These devices must not be used to record, store, receive or transmit information during the external assessment.
Action
Principals/Directors, please ensure appropriate checks for prohibited devices, including smart glasses, are conducted before students enter the examination room.
